‘FRIENDS’ IT’S EASY TO FIND A FRIEND…RIGHT? Are you sure about it? Are you sure that it’s just not you who consider them as friends? Are you sure you are as important to them as they’re to you? Are they gonna stay beside you just like you stay beside them? Did you find that one who will listen to your unnecessary rambling…who will bear your tantrum…who will cry with you no matter how stupid the reason is…if you found one then you’re lucky or should I say you are blessed…

But Jeremy was not that lucky. Let me share with you his story. A story where Jeremy and Joseph were bestest friends (they thought). They loved each other company very much. You could call them a partner of crimes from childhood. Both grew up together, went to school together. They are glued to each other. Though their personalities are far different. Jeremy was the silent one who never interacted too much with people. He just went with the flow. On the other hand, Joseph was very friendly he could mix up well with others. It’s their last year in school. Both were enjoying their teenage lives fully.

But they had to go to their college soon. And obviously, as best friends, they want to attend same college. But because of their choice of the subject they couldn’t.

Soon the graduation day came they celebrated wholeheartedly. They already knew their path would become different from that day.

The time came soon where both got a little emotional before making a promise.

Joseph said ‘ Don’t ever forget me, buddy, we’re best friends. Don’t let anyone become your best friend, you know I’m possessive over you’

While Jeremy said, ‘Don’t worry man you know very well no one gonna pay attention to me as much as you did.’

Saying that they took goodbye and went on their path.  At first, it was getting hard to communicate regularly but after settling down all seemed fine. They talked every day through the phone… especially Joseph he never missed a day to call Jeremy. He talked all about his day and his newfound crush in his class.

These days Joseph has worked up with his newfound crush always… talking about her…wanting suggestions from his best friend. Jeremy listened to everything his friend, said no matter how much tired he felt…cause at the end of this conversation it was his time to give him advice.

After someday Joseph proposed that girl, so he was in a relationship.

On the other hand, things were getting hard for Jeremy. He didn’t know why he was feeling restless these days…not to mention those taunt he received in his class just because of his appearance.

He was not a person who complained about everything that happened in his life. But this week he went through hell. It felt like everything was against him on top of that Joseph didn’t call him and every time he called him it said the line was busy.

That day it’s like hit the last button. Everything seemed wrong , he just wanted to escape,  he just wanted to stop this unnatural feeling, he just wanted to sit in a corner and cry his heart out while rambling to his best friend. That day he felt like he just needed his best friend by his side.

So as soon as he returned from college he dialed his number and fortunately it was not busy. He was already started sniffling, heart felt heavy. He knew he just had to talk with his friend and get rid of this feeling. Joseph picked up after some second. He immediately responded in his slightly broken voice, ‘Hey, are you busy? j..ust wanna talk …’

His words cut off hurriedly by Joseph, ‘ Hey buddy, can I talk to you later? I am having a moment with my friends…ok call you back soon.' That’s it he cut the call without waiting for any reply.

At that moment he felt all numb. He recalled his memory with his friend just to realized those things he never realized before. All the things he ignored in the past become crystal clear for him. He was always the giver in this whole friendship he understood that day.

After that day he never called him again. He did receive his call, heard his rambling but never paid attention. He stopped smiling whenever Joseph cracked some jokes. And the funny thing was Joseph never realized any of them.
